Mexico’s “National Chamber of the Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics Industry” (CANIETI) announced the debut of a new Animation and Videogames Festival, CREANIMAX 2006, whose main goal is to allow Mexico to establish and strengthen an animation and videogames industry.
To be held on October 13th, 14th and 15th, 2006 in Expo Guadalajara, the festival
will gather together all the people involved and interested in developing and
creating animated content and special effects for the cinema, education, construction
and mechanical engineering industries, as well as creating videogames for entertainment,
education and training purposes.
The event is supported by the Jalisco State Council of Science and Technology
(COECYTJAL), the Federal Government through the Ministry of Economy, the Jalisco
State Government through the Secretary of Economic Promotion (Seproe), the Jalisco
Information Technology Institute (IJALTI) and the Industrial Chambers Council
of Jalisco (CCIJ).
These are some of the most important activities that will take place as part of
Creanimax 2006:
Conferences:
The attendees will know the animation and videogames real world through a complete
conference program, dictated by renowned artists and producers. Collin Brady (Pixar),
Enrique Navarrete (Los Hijos de su Madre), Sergio Muciño (Autodesk), Rodrigo
de Tomasso and Anima Studio, are just a few of the names confirmed so far, and
the talks continue with filmmakers in the US.
Workshops:
Combining theory and practice, the workshops will give the attendees the opportunity
to receive professional training for the most popular animation and videogames
developing tools. More than 30 workshops are already on the program, covering
topics such as: "Videogames Level Design", "Animation Foundations",
"Character Modelling", Mechanical Simulations" and "Postproduction
processes", among others.
Showroom:
A showroom will be held to promote the independent world, giving Mexican artists the opportunity to show their animation and videogames work, and allowing them
to learn from other best-practice players.
Contest:
Promoting creativity is the main objective of the Animation and Videogames Development
Contest. Any creator will be able to register his work in five different categories:
3D Animation (National and International), 2D Animation (National), Videogames
(National) and Stop Motion. The total prize is worth 425,000 pesos.
Exhibition:
The event will host an exhibition area, in which companies will show their products and services. A special area for independent developers is also part of the show.
The Animation and Videogames Festival Creanimax 2006 will
be held on October 13th, 14th and 15th, 2006 in Expo Guadalajara, with parallel
