Alexey Vanzhula has released a new update to Modeler, his plugin package for direct modelling in Houdini. New features of version 2020.1 include an interactive tools system, mouse and keyboard shortcuts, radial menu toolsets, improvements to the UI, a faster modelling core, and more new modelling tools. See a demo of the new features on Vimeo and find out more about the plugin on Gumroad.
I love these tools. They’ve changed quite a bit over the last few years from the original flux plugin and they’ve gotten more streamlined, more efficient, and more complete. They really do allow an artist to model quickly in Houdini, in a streamlined way using hotkeys, without managing network nodes all the time; a great complement to Houdini’s procedural tools. Also love that the author is incorporating great ideas from Modo, and Blender.
Thank you! Just to clarify, Flux was a separate product. Modeler (Direct Modeling) exists from 2014. For the last few years Modeler was rewritten from scratch many times and flux (Soft Boolean) was merged with direct modeling tools. But the idea is old.
