Triple Squid Software Design has posted information on the new features brought by the recent update of MoI, its affordable NURBS modeler that features an intuitive UI and can output clean polygon meshes. Moment of Inspiration is being developed by Michael Gibson, who was the original developer of the Rhino NURBS
modeler. New features in MoI v3 include:
- Flow deformation tool for warping and bending shapes from
one backbone curve or surface to another - Twist command for twisting objects around an axis line
- New options for Extrude, Extrude to point and Extrude
tapered - NSided hole filling command
- Variable radius fillets
- Hidden line removal – MoI can now generate a 2D drawing
with hidden lines removed when exporting to PDF, AI, or DXF formats - Face extrusion auto booleans
- Boolean subset operations
- Support for DXF format import and export
- Improved PDF import, PDF added as export format
- Multiple CPU cores are now used in the draw engine
- New functions for isocurves
- Improvements to the Blend command
- Improved surface quality for closed fillets, blends, and
sweep for smooth closed surfaces
