More info on Composite

Here’s some more information on Composite: though it sports many advanced features, the software seems to be lacking a few tools related to motion graphics work, such as a good text generation and animation tool (it has one called Slate -yes, Slate- but it’s too basic), as well as particle generation tools like the ones in Combustion. Composite uses the OFX plugin architecture, so some plugins available for AE may not be available for the software for a while (though bundling the software with Max will give it a boost and sway developers towards developing for Composite). The good news is that the latest version incorporates a Vector Paint tool, so Autodesk appears to be moving towards covering the motion graphics holes in the software. Find out more at a message posted by Ken La Rue at Creative Cow, the official Maya Composite User Guide (PDF), and Toxik/Composite tutorials at Autodesk’s Area.
