ArchCG Studio has released PolySorter, its asset organization utility designed to automate the process of preparing downloaded 3D assets for use in a structured library.
PolySorter supports one-click extraction of nested archive formats including .zip, .rar, and .7z files directly into a user’s asset library. The application removes non-essential files such as promotional documents and redundant links during extraction. It creates a standardized directory structure for each asset, placing textures, lights, and proxy files into separate subfolders. The software renames asset files and associated preview images to maintain consistent labeling across a library. It is intended to work with assets from a range of online sources.
The utility includes additional helper features aimed at reducing manual steps. It can attempt to identify an asset’s type and suggest an appropriate folder location within a library structure. An automatic image-linking feature attempts to retrieve a preview image for a model to reduce the need for manual screenshots.
PolySorter operates as a local application, with no file uploads or data tracking. All processing is performed on the user’s machine, and multiple downloads can be handled in a single session.
