The competition between renderers is getting heated. NVidia announced that Mental Ray for Maya is now free for single frame rendering, and the company charges for enabling sequence rendering within Maya and production rendering on the network or in batch on any machine. The software is offered through rental licensing, prices are $295/year per machine and systems with a Quadro or Tesla have to pay $95/year per machine. More on NVidia’s website.
