Paintstorm – a new digital painting tool

Paintstorm – a new digital painting tool

Paintstorm Studio is the latest 2D drawing app nipping at Photoshop’s heels. It was created from the ground up for professional digital painting, as a result, there’s a focus on brushes. According to the developers, though Paintstorm now features many unique functions, originally “we just were going to collect [together many] convenient functions: Stabilizer from SAI, Bristle Brush from Corel Painter, “Close Gaps” function from Clip Studio, custom brush shapes from Photoshop, etc. But probably the main feature is flexible brush adjustments. Each parameter is not only changeable but bound to a diagram. Frankly, it demands certain skills from users. That is why Paintstorm is positioned as professional software.”

Other brush features include the ability to create bristle brushes of any shape and variety, stroke post correction, the ability to bind brush parameters to perspective, a stroke stabiliser, an artist-intuitive colour mixer, and more.

Painstorm costs $19.00 for a perpetual license and a free trial is available. An iPad version is also available for $12.99. Find out more on the Paintstorm Studio website. You can also read an interview with the creators on 80Level.

(Paintstorm is not new to the market, in fact, it’s been around a couple of years but we had yet to feature it on CGPress. )

I tried this software 2 days ago, and really like it.
So I went directly and bought 2 licenses, one for my workstation and the other for my laptop.

Since that, I haven’t been able to activate my software, so I tried contacting them (via email, forum, web page) to resolve my issue as soon as possible.

Sadly I have not received any response, and here I am, 2 days after the transaction and without a fully working software. At this moment I don’t know what else to do.

Update: So I had like 4 days without knowing what was happening but today I received a response, they told me they had issues with their servers and everything was fine now.

So I was able to fix the issue with my license and my software is registered.

I’m very happy now!

I have seen this app for the first time here in CGP. Never heard about it before. Why?

This is the most amazing small, cheap, robust, effective & efficient painter Software application i have ever seen (as far as i can remember – and i have seen a lot!). This is how the natural painting medium and UI should be solved 🙂

I have purchased a pack of licenses (there were no problems, i have got the License instantly, everything works perfect). My artists can now try to get out of Adobe Box and try to be creative with some other tools.
