"Going back to V-Ray software: “The features I mentioned are part of our Advanced package. Since the very beginning we promised we would have 3 different flavors of V-Ray: Advanced, Basic and Free. As we are coming to our next major release – 1.1 – we are feeling pretty much confident we will make it an even greater success so we are finally being able to give more attention to our free package. As far as I know we are one of the few to have a fully featured DEMO of our ray-tracing system without any features limitation. But the DEMO would not do any good for production. That is why, we are finally releasing the free V-Ray package for those users who would only need a basic ray-tracer with support for GI.”"
"After being on public arena for nearly a year, V-Ray has won many admirers all over the world. It has been in public beta-testing since Dec 1, 2001 and has been in sales since the beginning of March 2002.
However, something new is going to happen this week.
Here is what Peter Mitev – Software manager has to say: “From the very beginning V-Ray has had features like various true 3D Motion Blur techniques, Distributed Rendering, several Anti-Aliasing approaches and GI algorithms.”
“Some of these features are now being introduced to some of the competing products.”
Peter adds: “Those have been pretty much standard features for V-Ray users – tested and working for quite some time. Furthermore, with its development V-Ray customers have enjoyed internal Displacement mapping, Instance rendering and even more sophisticated GI caching algorithms which are pretty much unique and of much help”.
“Since there are many studios using various rendering software packages it may be hard nowadays to choose the best one.”
Peter continues “We have a long list of customers and we respect them all but I would like to mention names like Digital Dimension – a three-time Emmy award winning CGI production studio, UbiSoft – makers of best-selling games (Myst, Pool of Radiance etc.), Animal Logic and many others. Having clients like them has been a real challenge for us and we are happy that V-Ray has proven to fit well into their pipeline. That is why I am pretty confident that with our best-selling technology, hard-working R&D team and superior support we will remain ahead of the majority”.
“Many of the projects that are being done now are under NDAs and there is little we can tell or show as of yet but we expect some great imagery material to be available in the coming weeks.”

And final notes on a release date:
“My guess is that before the end of this week we will release our free version. It can be used by anyone for their needs. Enjoy!”"
