Autodesk has uploaded a workflow video of their cloud rendering solution for 3DS Max. Project Pandora is a joint collaboration between Autodesk and Nvidia that enables users to scale local production rendering without investing in new hardware. 3D scenes can be interacted with from your browser when out of the office, or sent to clients for review and approval. Watch the video on Youtube.
I would never send my project into something called “cloud”. Its a fairly annoying and boring fashion term to gain more and more control over customers and their work. In real life, i prefer sunny days to cloudy ones. So i personally will not hesitate to switch my software to any “cloud free” company.
I prefer sunny days, too. 🙂 If you have a skeptic eye for fashionable net terms and trends I think you’ll enjoy reading this book:

Thank you – looks interesting.
Good recommendation Pablo, it’s now on my “to-read” list. Thanks
A pleasure. Glad you liked it.
I like sunny days too – it’s why I moved south. But I have to say that many cloud services actually GIVE “more control over customers and their work”. I think Autodesk’s Cloud Rendering is a good example of this. Financially, it’s an additional, and value-added, service that a customer gets as a part of being on software subscription. Functionally, it provides huge amounts of render processing horsepower and capacity compared to what the typical user or company can bring to bear on their rendering work. And that enables much faster results, and an opportunity to do more in less time. And that always brightens my day. 🙂
