Idyllic Pixel has released PureRef 2.1, its reference image management software.
The update adds to the existing drawing tool with support for geometric shapes. Users can now draw circles, ellipses, squares, rectangles, and straight lines, with the option to constrain proportions using a modifier key. These shapes share the same configuration options as freehand drawing, including line thickness, style, and color.
PureRef 2.1 also introduces the option of a background grid intended to assist with layout organization. Two grid styles are provided, consisting of line-based and dotted patterns. Images can snap to the grid automatically, and snapping remains available even when the grid display is disabled.
A new recent files overview has been added to startup. This view shows thumbnails of recently opened scenes, displays the last edit time, and allows users to pin frequently used projects. The number of recent files shown can be adjusted in the application settings.
Image management options have been improved with additional batch optimization controls. Users can adjust image resolution through non-destructive downscaling, convert image formats, trim cropping borders, and choose between embedded or linked images. A preview indicates which images are affected by selected optimizations. An updated Auto optimize setting applies customizable rules when images are added to a scene.
Finally, language support has been extended to Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, French, Japanese, Korean, and Spanish. The interface language can be changed through the appearance settings.
