Sony have announced that they have acquired the Belgian company SoftKinetic. SoftKinetic are currently working on patented depth-sensing cameras that can track motion in three dimensions using “time of flight” light field technology. Similar to Microsoft’s Kinect sensors, SoftKinetic are developing tools that would potentially make their way into Sony’s Playstation VR, which is set to be released next year.
