Tension is a modifier that compares the current deformation of a mesh with a reference pose, and generates relative compression and expansion data of the edges in the mesh. Also does edge based concavity/convexity. Read on for more.
Tension is a new plugin by Grant Adam that compares the current deformation of a mesh with a reference
pose, and generates relative compression and expansion data of the edges in the
mesh. It dumps the data into either the vertex colour channel or standard mapping
channel, where it can be used for display, selection (using volume select and
the vertex color map) or at render-time (using the vertex color map, usually as
a mask). Also does edge based concavity/convexity.
Somewhat similar to Mankua’s Stress map or the DTX one, but as a modifier
showing vertex colors in the viewport it can be used for interactive surface
evaluation, ideal for use when skinning or modelling morph targets.
Tension is a commercial plugin. RPManager licensees (uses the RPManager license)
can download and use it for free, otherwise it costs a $20 license fee.
