New features in The Foundry’s node-based VFX, editorial and finishing studio include:
- Multiple overlay tracks and blending modes in Nuke Studio’s
timeline - Enhanced audio editorial tools
- Burn-in soft effect added to the real-time in-timeline effects –
lets quickly add review information like time codes, clip name and
project name directly in the timeline - XML & AAF support for grades, non-linear retimes, transforms
and cropping - Native support for stereo playback, both in application and
through SDI-out
According to the press release, the new Nuke Studio version is expected
to be commercially available in Q3. Also of note, The Foundry announced
that it is developing new tools and workflows to manipulate and
composite live action VR in Nuke. These tools include:
- Calibration and stitching of live-action 360 footage from
multi-camera rigs - Live connection to Oculus Rift to review stitching, grading and
depth - Support for compositing with ray-trace rendering for CG placement
and projections - Spherical aware operations and viewing with equirectangular images
