HQ Details has released UV Tools 3, a scripted tool for 3DS Max that simplifies many processes for UV mapping that’s aimed at archviz, but that many artists may find handy.
Features include the ability to move and rotate textures visually in the max viewport, the ability to align textures with the edges, simplified tools to move rotate and scale UVWs, an auto-orient mode that aligns textures to the longest side, scaling tools to match source or use units, an option to randomise the UVs per element and much more.

After watching the videos, this actually looks pretty handy. Would fill in some of the tools lacking in the default unwrap modifier. If I have a project that requires extensive UV work, I’ll be picking this up as the price isn’t that bad and would probably pay for itself in an hours worth of work.
