XStudio open source playback and review app now available on Windows
In a collaborative effort, Epic Games and Ahead, with support from DNEG, have released the open-source code for XSTUDIO on Windows today. This release is hosted by the Academy Software Foundation and is available on GitHub, representing an important step towards transforming XSTUDIO into a cross-platform solution for the open-source community.
XSTUDIO, a modern and versatile playback and review application, is a crucial part of the Academy Software Foundation’s Open Review Initiative. This initiative is working towards establishing a unified open-source toolset for motion picture playback, review, and approval.
Originally open-sourced for Linux, this release is the first move towards making xSTUDIO a cross-platform solution for the open-source community. It aims to further establish XSTUDIO as a possible deployment option for playback and review processes across various workflows.
