The video game has been developed in order to further enhance and extend Blender‘s video game-related capabilities. Modeling, animation and level design has been done using the open source 3D software. The game itself is rendered with the Crystal Space 3D engine (a version for the Blender Game Engine is also available), and is based on the story and characters of their latest open source short film, Big Buck Bunny. Yo Frankie! runs on any platform that supports the Blender Engine and Crystal Space. The source files are also available for download, so anyone can create and share their own levels, characters, etc. Visit Project Apricot’s Yo Frankie! website for more.
