Octane Render's future development

Otoy has disclosed some of the features they're working on for a post-2.0 release of their unbiased GPU renderer. These include deformable object motion blur, render pass output for lighting layers, deep compositing pipeline, out-of-core rendering (for scenes that don't fit into graphics memory) and user-defined GPU procedurals. Nuke Studio announced at NAB 2014

(Updated) The Foundry have announced Nuke Studio at NAB 2014. This latest offering from The Foundry combines the VFX and compositing tools of Nuke, with the editorial and online tools of Hiero. Head over to The Foundry's website for more details.

DaVinci Resolve 11 announced

New features in Blackmagic Design's color correction and online editing system include context sensitive trimming, onset file cloning, photographer-style color grading tools, improvements in online editing and a new collaborative workflow that allows multiple users to work simultaneously on the same timeline. The update will be available in June free of charge for all current DaVinci Resolve customers. More on Blackmagic Design's website.

Autodesk announces 2015 versions of Flame and Smoke

New features in Autodesk's application for finishing, visual effects and color grading include faster performance, additional creative tools (3D Shape, Replica and Matchbox enhancements) and support for 4K and Ultra HD workflows. More on Autodesk's Flame page. (more...)

Anima 2 features announced

AXYZ-design's Diego Gadler has disclosed some of the new features that will be available in the upcoming version of the company's character animation and crowd simulation software. Anima 2 will offer a new locomotion system that is able to drive characters in any direction using 1 unique motion clip, deriving parametric data in order to reproduce realistic motion, and it will allow you to use your own motions and characters. Anima 2 is expected to be released after Q2 2014. More on Diego Gadler's comment on the Populate v2 video news item.
