Idea is cute, clever use for a still. But in reality what we really want is the options to add our own models and motions as well as options to show / hide props.
Nice show case, but it wouldn’t work if it didn’t have a ton of motion blur on top of it and heavy photoshop effects. So far what we have seen is fairly low quality dudes with questionable textures.
Personally I can’t wait to get this, I just hope its good enough to replace Anima.
%100 Compliant with Thomas idea
Not sure if it was intended, but the video also shows a new 2d zoom feature which seems pretty handy.
The Anima models from AXYZ look much better than the ones they show here.
But it will be a lot faster if you could do the crowds directly in max.
So far you have to export your geo into anima, learn the UI, and get the people back into max with an geo stand-in, like a V-Ray proxy.
It has to read data for each frame, so it can get slow.
If AXYZ would convert their models, so that they are usable with Populate, we could have the best from both tools.
I think they would sell a lot of models when people start using this.
says video is private…can’t view it
After seeing the latest news by MU about Project Pinocchio:
http://cgpress.com/archives/18456_project_pinocchio.html
I suppose it was always intended to work with the current crowd system “Populate” which was previously (and quite interestingly) named Project Geppetto. This is definitely where users can add thier custom characters.. I suppose the next question is, how customizable is Project Pinocchio?
(And on a side note, after doing some google search about the name of the whale in Disney’s Pinocchio, I suppose they could probably use the name Project Monstro for the (hopefully) Naiad integration ^_^)
It’s that project geppetto from autodesk lab.isn’t it?
