Paris-based school New3dge has been raising the quality of its student films for a while, Dead End is one of the best to come from the school. The SciFi short was created by David Bruyère, Leia Peron, Romain Euvrard, Robin André-Bourguignon, Antoine Perrier-Cornet and Maxime Recuyer. Software used includes 3DS Max, ZBrush, Substance Painter, V-Ray, Marvelous Designer, Maya, DaVinci Resolve and After Affects. Watch Dead End short film on Filmnosis.

Japan-based artists Brent Forrest and Tobias Schlage have come up with a sequel to their Like and Follow short film, titled Crack. It was animated in Maya and rendered in Arnold, DaVinci Resolve was used for composting and editing. This is the second in the artists’ Phonetto Trilogy. After touring film festivals and being awarded Best Student Project at SIGGRAPH, the short film Gunpowder is now available online. The film features a great mix of 2D and 3D aesthetics and was created as a graduation project at Supinfocom-Rubika by Romane Faure, Nathanaël Perron, Pei-Hsuan Lin, Léa Détrain, Anne-Lise Kubiak and Benoît de Geyer d'Orth. French school ESMA keeps raising the quality of its films. La Traversée (The Journey) is one of the best to come from the school, featuring impressive environment design and FX work. Created by Théo Atangana, Delphine Espiasse, Guillaume Lambolez, Evangelos Kapsopoulos, Bastien Delbes and Myles Jackson. Software used includes Houdini, Maya, Mari, Nuke and Renderman.
