After the popularity and widespread adoption of the Viewcube and Steering Wheel widgets, Autodesk would now be developing WristCube, a mobile application that enables the navigation of 3DS Max viewports from any Android enabled smart watch using the navigation widgets.
According to sources the development is part of a larger R&D initiative code named Project Gallifrey, which aims to expand the rich functionality of these tools to mainstream industries. “Cars are being limited by current steering wheels”, says Robert Hooke, Director of Wearable Technologies at Autodesk, “when people understand the endless driving possibilities opened by our navigation widgets, they’ll be demanding a WristCube with every new car they buy.” Elevators would also be tested soon with the new devices.
“The cloud is the future”, adds Hooke, “and wearable technology will soon be completely pervasive, people won’t think twice about using it. I can imagine a time when few users will interact with PCs or cumbersome physical controls anymore, everything will be hosted in the cloud and accessible anywhere from your wrist, cuff link or buttonhole”.

And here I thought the Max 2015 release was the April Fool’s joke 🙂
