Two factor authentification is pretty common these days.
Using phone numbers and SMS for 2fa isnt considered best practice.
There are a few authenticators that work well without the need for personal data. Including Google Authenticator that doesn’t rely on phone numbers OR a google account.
Registration with a cell number serves as a great filter… because only artists and users truly interested in being part of the community will not be bothered by this. 😉
