Autodesk’s AREA revamped

Autodesk has announced that its community portal AREA has been completely reimagined as a “full-fledged community for 3D professionals, students, and enthusiasts across the film, TV, games, and design visualization industries”. In addition to a new desktop site, apps are also available for iOS and Android. Find out more on Autodesk AREA.

Registering requires to give your phone number , thats not gonna happen from my side …
Also existing Autodesk accounts are not considered …

Two factor authentification is pretty common these days.

Using phone numbers and SMS for 2fa isnt considered best practice.

There are a few authenticators that work well without the need for personal data. Including Google Authenticator that doesn’t rely on phone numbers OR a google account.

Registration with a cell number serves as a great filter… because only artists and users truly interested in being part of the community will not be bothered by this. 😉

Autodesk rather should completely reimagine and properly develop Max and Maya as full-fledged tools for 3D professionals, students, and enthusiasts across the film, TV, games, and design visualization industries.
