Vimeo has agreed to sell its video platform, popular amongst 3D artists and filmmakers. The company entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by Bending Spoons for about $1.38 billion in cash.
The deal was unanimously approved by Vimeo’s board and is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2025, subject to stockholder and regulatory approvals. Upon completion, Vimeo will become a private company and its shares will be delisted.
Bending Spoons is a Milan-based software company that has expanded through acquisitions of well-known digital services. Its portfolio includes Evernote, Meetup, WeTransfer, Brightcove, and komoot. Brightcove’s $233 million sale to Bending Spoons closed in February 2025. Reuters reported planned workforce reductions at WeTransfer after Bending Spoons bought the service in July 2024.
