AutoMultiMatte is a very handy script for 3DS Max/V-Ray users that uses the EffectID found in V-Ray 2.0+ and as written by its creator, Sergo Pogosyan, it “creates MultiMatte render elements for all or for the selected objects’ Vray materials and assigns proper values to their Effects ID property.” Read more and download it at Scriptspot.com.
yeah,
very good script
i’m use it all the time to create alpha channels
would be much easy if the script worked with scanline render for quick mattes ( scanline is so much faster for making alpha channels compared to vray)
New script? Today? It’s been nearly 2 years that i’m using it.
Anyway nice to share for those who don’t know 😉
Cheers
@Stan: Ah apologies, hopefully it’ll be useful to those that didn’t know about its existence (like me). I’m updating the post to remove the part about it appearing today.
@Para: The problem with using Scanline for generating mattes is that the anti-aliasing isn’t handled the same. It might work in some cases where you don’t need pixel accurate anti-aliasing, but it can often also turn out to be a headache.
yes u are right.
but at least the possibility to use standard materials not only vvray
@Para: I am sure you could write him a suggestion and if he wants to he could look at it. I think the main point of the script is that it uses the EffectID which is part of the Vray Material. I’m sure there is a way of making it work with Standard Materials, but not with EffectIDs.
I’m personally always grateful when someone gives away something they spent time on without getting a dime back.
i am very grateful for the script , ….using it all the time to make one click mattes (rgb mattes)
i’m not b*tching about anything just saying it wound be nice to have that future for standard materials
and yes i will send him a message
My two cents, when generating mattes something that can really speed up render times is to disable the Rendered Frame Window. It makes render faster in general, but for times when you have a lot of empty background it really makes things a lot faster.
It would seem that with that checked on it process the background, with it off it doesn’t waste time on that background even though the final results are the same.
