pretty average, an attempt at alex roman style but 10 years too late and not as technically polished.
+1
may have been a good exercise for them but as “a short (architectural) film” it doesn’t work
editing is not story driven (scenes linger too long to show the cg work but not to move the story), no plot/no characters
voice-over is cringe (doesn’t make sense and is not really related to the visual);
“it is sad that everybody has some point of inflection in their lives, a moment of clarity in the haze…” ??? narrative devoid of meaning
nicely rendered – that’s about it – disjointed and ultimately empty
All these Architectural films are the same, apart from the voice over it was exactly as I expected. Very nice work without doubt. But slow camera moves over concrete and glass, a few ‘old objects’ in there for a bit of juxtaposition and a desaturated look – it’s been done over and over, hardly a new language. Show me something different, I’m fed up with concrete boxes.
And who would build a data centre on what appears to be a flood plain?
When it floods they’ll get free water cooling? To be fair it’s extremely difficult to break the mould in arch viz. A handful of studios have been doing creative work for years to the point where this approach has become pretty much mainstream.
