A plugin by Eugene Liscio and David Dustin that provides an easy method for importing point clouds into 3DS Max. Features include the ability to combine multiple point clouds in one environment and animation capabilities. Supported formats include .pts and the new E57 standard, files imported are converted to a binary format for faster loading. A trial version is available. Check out some sample videos and find out more on Clouds2Max’s website.
Wow that’s expensive..
The formats themselves are easy to work with (easy to write own importers for), so I’m amazed that people will pay that much for such a plugin.
I think the price is relative to the market that you use it in…and the value that one gets from it. This plugin provides functionality that just isn’t in MAX right now and its also a hug time saver. I think its a great deal…especially for the area that i use it in!
Hi Everyone,
We have had a really great response to our plugin and the hits trials on our website have gone through the roof!
Although I realize that the cost of the plugin is expensive for many, it really is the cheapest option out there for point cloud import. The only other product is thousands of dollars more.
The plugin itself is simple and it works great. We don’t want to make it more than it is and we are completely transparent as to what it does. Clouds2Max solves a particular problem in our industry since there are few solutions for point cloud import into Max.
Also we feel that service and support is something that is missing with many companies nowadays and so we have made a commitment and investment to do our best. Both David Dustin and I are often available directly online to answer questions and when we aren’t we will get back to you as soon as possible.
Thanks for the feedback and by all means, watch the videos and give the trial a shot! It’s free for 15 days.
Cheers,
Eugene
