Romanian artists are using augmented reality tools to develop a project that uses archival footage to overlay life from the past over existing city streets and landmarks, a new kind of “virtual museum”, according to the authors. Watch a sample video on YouTube.

Errm, having played (a little I admit) with AR and QR Codes, the square QR Code has to be in the view of the camera for it to be able to `track` the virtual footage or 3d model etc to the real world. Surely when they look up at the buildings nothing would track ? Or is it just relying on you being in a particular spot and facing a particular way then playing a video ?
if you look closely to the video, no, the qr code has not to be in the view for the tracking to function. we do really use the 3d tracking of the buildings… you can also move and the image stays…
the biggest problem we face is this: ppl are fed up with promises of PR which don’t live up to their promises.
when we do it right, nobody tries it because they tried when they were misled by the pr campaign.
don’t believe us, try it and you will see it.
