(Updated) Tim Schafer discusses in an interview the massive response their Kickstarter project received from the public. Read the interview.
“Publishers tell us that adventure games are dead. Our fans tell us they aren’t. Who is right? Well, I think it’s about time we found out!” And they found out soon enough. San Francisco-based Double Fine is well on its way to securing 1.5 million dollars of funding for its next point and click adventure game, thanks to Kickstarter and fans of their work. The month-long funding campaign originally hoped to raise $400,000, and it more than tripled that amount in the first few days.
Tim Schafer and Ron Gilbert, known for their work on legendary games such as The Secret of Monkey Island, Maniac Mansion, Full Throttle and Grim Fandango, will be developing the new game without any pressure from publishers or debts. More at Kickstarter and Double Fine.
