Researchers from the University of Warwick have partnered with SpheronVR to create an HDR video system. The new system focuses on making the data stream generated by the HDR video camera manageable (42 Gb per minute of footage), and features a compression ratio of more than 100:1, preservation of high quality details (allowing for high quality compressed digital negatives), and a very fast decompression method that uses GPUs. The system will be presented December 17-19 in Yokohama, Japan, at this year’s SIGGRAPH Asia.
