Instant Terra switches to perpetual licensing

Wysilab has announced that is has switched it’s licensing model from subscription to perpetual licensing. Instant Terra, the node based terrain modelling software, is now available starting at $149 for users earning less than $500k limited to 8kx8k maps, a version with unlimited resolution for $199, and a new Pro edition for users earning over $500K which adds algorithms for working on huge environments, faster imports, API access and premium support. too late.. Gaea and World Creator are here

I never understand the “too late” comments, no matter the product. Competition is always good, it drives innovation. People should be cheering them on that they changed to the perpetual route, not hoping they die off because of their initial bad decision on licensing.

It’s competitively priced to Gaea and World Creator, so its a good re-start. I haven’t tried any, so I can’t speak on features. But I’d rather try the demo/free versions of all of them, watch videos of workflow and tutorials, compare the workflow and quality. And then make a decision instead of just dismissing it because there is other software out there already. Maybe it does things better, maybe it doesn’t. But you’ll never know if you don’t even look at it because you have a sore spot for what they previously did.

Guys don’t go subscription only ever, it is NOT a good business strategy, it is probably too late to have realised this as the other post mentioned. But this should be a good heads up for any other studio planning or still following this destructive path.
