Yep you’re right.. I’m not impressed at all, nothing new, World Creator do this all and much better… just a new heightfield generator.. If it had some shift displacement like terragen, but with more filters and stuff, that’s would be interesting..

It’s as if terrible user interfaces were trademark of terrain generation packages 🙂

I must say this one here is ugly, but very clean and minimalistic – one could almost say it is “expandable”.
I almost like it more then Zbrush. Zbrush is in my opinion still the Top 1 in the premier leage of incredible UI Design concepts. Each time i want to do something i need first to go to YouTube and check how what to do…

Look at 1:35 time mark for example. WorldMachine has this ridiculous profile curve editor where you can only draw with a mouse without any interpolation/smoothing, and you can not even switch to actual smooth point mode, making something as simple as making a smooth curve profile seemingly impossible. It was one of the many quirks WorldMachine had that made it really difficult to use.

And here we are, with a new piece of software, which copied exactly the WorldMachine behavior including this major design flaw. This makes me afraid (and probably not far from truth), that other flawed mechanisms were simply copied behavior from WorldMachine.

Snarknado:
Oh and Yes, I did use OnyxTree, and yes, I agree it’s bad 😉

And all of them can’t do mountains. Have you ever seen a mountain with a smooth top?

Didn’t they used to keep Airwolf in one of those?
