US-based Tandent Vision Science announced the release of Lightbrush, a software designed for reverse engineering an image into the components that formed it, allowing for capturing texture maps from images and performing independent image manipulation in both textures and lighting.
Lightbrush works with stills and can export TIFFs, EXRs, or a layered document for editing in another application. The technology behind the software is capable of processing video, so a future release is expected to provide this feature. Lightbrush is currently available for MacOS X, with a Windows version due by the end of the year. More on Tandent’s website.
