Modeler 2025 for Houdini released
Alexey Vanzhula has released Modeler 2025, his toolkit for Houdini, introducing a wide range of new features and fixes. The plugin has undergone a complete redesign of its core functionality. The Python and VEX code has been rewritten, making the tools more procedural and customizable. The previous “Modeler mode” has been removed, allowing direct integration with Houdini’s shelf tools and hotkeys.
New tools include a Manipulator, which supports component transformation while preventing accidental selections, and Sculpt Move and Sculpt Relax, which use Houdini’s sculpting mode with symmetry. Enhancements to the PolyPen tool improve topology editing, including better component detection and automatic welding of loops and edges. Additionally, new features like Linear Falloff, Radial Falloff, and Edge Flow provide more control for users, particularly when handling complex geometry.
Several bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements have also been made, such as addressing issues with hotkeys on macOS, enhancing the Manipulator tool’s functionality, and updating the Loop Selection algorithm to match Maya’s. Various tools, including Quick Pivot, Backdrop, and Normals, have been refined to offer more accurate results. This release brings greater flexibility and efficiency to Houdini modeling, aiming to streamline the user experience.
