jb – yes I do to, how ever the new version is worth it, well to me at least. there’s an open source one called sagethumb, based on the same code at gethub.
I’d try the mysticthumbs 30 day free trial to see what you think.
IMO it is worth the $25 to fix, well at least workaround Microsoft undressed shortcomings in windows explorer.
Someday Microsoft will actually figure out that 99% of windows users like looking at pictures and names of their files. People don’t want some stupid phone looking startup splashscreen on their desktop.
XNView displays max files with thumbnails and is free. I use that instead of windows explorer: http://www.xnview.com/en/index.php
it is also a great batch converter.
Thanks for the recommendation Anselm – just tried XNView and it looks pretty good. Like the ability to see all the files in subfolders with a single click.
+1 for MysticThumbs. We’ve used it for two years. The developer is very responsive with user input. I asked him to include gamma settings for .exr thumbnails and he added it to the next release
