A new version of the open source node-based compositing software is available, offering many new features. Development of Natron is advancing fast and gathering strong backing from followers and contributors. Highlights in this version include:
- New nodes (Resize, ColorMatrix, Text)
- Node-graph bird view
- Turbo-mode for enhanced playback
- Relative file paths
- Automatic reload of modified media
- Shortcuts editor
- Improved caching
- Ability to add control points/keyframes to curves by double-clicking on them
- Parameters links and expressions can now be displayed in the nodegraph
- The UI layout can now be saved
- Import/export node presets
- Improved TrackerNode
Plus various other enhancements. According to the developers, multi-core CPU optimizations are pending
and will be included in the v1.0 release, and Python scripting is
expected to be implemented shortly after. The developers are asking for
feedback from those who can test the application in order to
iron out bugs and get the v1.0 release out. More information and

Natron basically looks like someone wanted Nuke really bad but didn’t want to pay for it. So instead of stealing it, they just built it.
That taking into consideration that Nuke has the best interface, which I don’t think so. I would rather that they rebuilt Shake.

i tried loading an exr render and the preview was filled with square artefacts. i realize this is no place to give feedback, it was just a turn off.
