Boomer Labs announced the release of PMorph, a plugin that delivers progressive morphing, giving animators the ability to drive the animation of a modified object based on the dynamic selection of animated frames from another object. PMorph allows to accomplish complex animated sequences easily, which otherwise would have been nearly impossible. Here are some examples of how PMorph can enhance the production pipeline:

  • Complex Animations: animated objects can transform in complex ways. Animating the timing and specific portions of the object that are affected are a snap with PMorph.
  • Influence Objects: PMorph allows users to animate an object (or group of objects) based on an external influence. Any number of helpers and influence objects enable animators to automatically adjust how objects morph based on these influences.
  • Re-time Animations: using the frame specification capability of PMorph, animators can accomplish precise control over an
    object’s timing with ease.

The plugin is available for 64-bit versions of 3DS Max 2010 and up. List price is $95 per seat with no charge for render nodes. A special introductory price of $75 is available until the end of June. A free downloadable demo version is available. Check out some sample videos and find out more on Boomer Labs’ website.

Ive been using it here at work during its development and its really quite cool. Likewise Matt is great to work with on tools development if you need something custom.
