The Foundry announced the upcoming release of Nuke 9, NukeX 9 and Nuke Studio, which is scheduled for the end of November, and provided more information regarding the features brought by the new version.
Nuke 9 brings a native flipbook tool (integrated player capabilities), significant performance improvements, enhanced 2D format support and retiming updates. NukeX and Nuke Studio also feature an overhaul to the Planar Tracker and updates to the Vector Generator, Motion Blur and Kronos tools, with the addition of a new motion estimation algorithm.
Nuke Studio, the new addition to the Nuke line, is a node-based VFX, editorial and finishing studio that allows to conform, edit, color-correct, add effects, playback at 4K and run a whole project from a single desktop or use the software’s collaborative controls to share work with a wider team and manage this from a central integrated location.
Free non-commercial versions
The Foundry also announced that they’ll be releasing free versions for non-commercial use of Nuke, NukeX and Nuke Studio in early 2015. The output created with these versions will be non-watermarked but certain functionally will be restricted, such as output resolution being limited to HD, no Monitor output support, no 3rd party plugin support, etc.
