(Updated) Clovis has added a new video demonstrating custom leaf animations, multiple leaf types, distributing leaves by branch types, drawing on surfaces and other branches, and wind animation. Watch it on Vimeo.
Clovis Gay has released a video demonstrating a great looking script for creating custom trees in 3DS Max. Emulating some of the functionality of SpeedTree or GrowFx, TreePaint allows you to draw a hierarchy of easily modifiable rigged trunk, branches and leaves with the ability to animate their growth. When complete, trees can be baked down into an animated static mesh or point cloud. The script is still in development but you can watch a preview now on Vimeo.
