Boomer Labs and JokerMartini have released their scene management plugin for 3DS Max. Vexus is a standalone node-based editor for constructing, managing and manipulating scenes. It allows users to work with massive scenes for any kind of project, both small and large. Vexus removes repetitive scene setup work with its dynamic tokening system and flexible framework. Artists can save, reuse and share setups. The plugin is priced at $250 and supports 3DS Max 2015-2017. A demo version is available. More on Boomer Labs’ website.

in the first seconds of the first video the title shown is clearly `Nexus` not `Vexus`.

They had to change the name since the Foundry owns the name Nexus and you probably don’t want to get sued by the Foundry. 🙂

We had to rename it in order to avoid any legal issues with the foundry.

If you pronounce it fast there’s barely a difference.

Except “vex” doesn’t have a positive connotation; although, vexatious does describe The Foundry’s behavior pretty well.

After getting burned with my ATK purchase I have to be honest that I will never buy anything with JokerMartini’s name behind it. Long story short I bought ATK, installed it, auth’d it and then hard drive crashed, needed a NEW auth code and after several ignored emails from a few different accounts over a couple months I have personally blacklisted any other products by him as he obviously is looking for the quick buck and screw the customers.

Hey Dave, I apologize for any issues you may have encountered with your purchase. We, at JokerMartini are always trying to make our customers happy. I would be more than glad to personally help resolve your issue. We never purposely miss or ignore emails. I make these tools because I care about the industry and my customers. I even openly list my phone number on jokermartini so people can even call me if they have issues.

So please feel free to contact me.

Obviously I have some apprehension, given my own experience and with expressing what had happened on anther professional forum there were a surprising number of people that came out that had the same problems that I did. I know life can get in the way but if you are publishing software you have to be able to support it, and if you cant then you need to hire people that can help or stop all together. If I decide to give ATK a shot again I may shoot you a message but in truth I only got to use it for a couple days initially and that was I think close to a year ago now so I didn’t have time to adapt it in to my workflow and thus don’t miss it.

Cheers,
-dave

I want to speak up as an ATK customer. ATK is still one of the greatest 3ds Max workflow boosters around. For $25 USD it is a fantastic purchase that pays for itself many times over. I have not experienced issues with licensing for myself or at the studios i’ve worked with it at. ATK has had a completely automated licensing system that operated via the paypal account that was used to make purchase. I can see that causing issues for users.

Vexus is co-developed with Boomer Labs. If you have trepidation about the “JokerMartini” brand, you can feel confident with Boomer Labs – it is Boomer who processes the sales and licensing and Vexus is one of the many Max plugins they’ve produced over 2 decades. If you have a problem with licensing, Boomer labs would fix it.

Check out the free Vexus demo and then make up your mind. I have had the great pleasure of being a Vexus user since its very early stages. Joker Martini is a skype call away and happy to walk through feature ideas, bug reports, workflow ideas and more. The level of customer service has been great!

Well could you please elaborate on the details of the problem so I can fix it. You mention this other professional forum where people had similar issues. I would like to know of this forum because I haven’t heard of any issues. Like I mentioned, I try to make it very easy for people to get ahold of me if they need anything.
