Nokia subsidiary acquires CityScape developer PixelActive

(Updated) Procedural Inc. are offering a discount to CityScape users who'd like to migrate to CityEngine.
PixelActive, makers of CityScape urban environment creation software, have been acquired by Navteq, a subsidiary of Nokia. Navteq is a company dedicated to providing maps, traffic and location data enabling navigation, location-based services and mobile advertising. PixelActive's home page states that Navteq is "committed to a smooth transition and providing the support necessary for PixelActive clients and partners". There is no specific mention if they'll continue to develop CityScape or not, however, it seems unlikely. The press release says that the acquisition is aimed at expanding Navteq’s ability "to efficiently build products in a 3D environment" and that PixelActive founders "will stay with the company and continue their roles in the R&D organization supporting these efforts". Read the press release for more.
