Blender Tests New Vulkan Backend for Enhanced Graphics Performance

In a significant move to advance its graphics processing capabilities, Blender has begun testing Vulkan as an experimental backend, now available in alpha builds for Linux and Windows users. Vulkan, a contemporary API offering an efficient, cross-platform approach to GPU use, is set to replace OpenGL, which has been Blender's graphics standard since the 1990s. (more...)

ENSI’s Boom short film wins Student Academy Award

One of the latest graduation films produced at the École des Nouvelles Images, the Avignon-based school headed by Julien Deparis, has been awarded the gold medal in the Animation category of the Student Academy Awards, held by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Boom was created by Gabriel Augerai, Romain Augier, Laurie Pereira De Figueiredo, Charles Di Cicco and Yannick Jacquin. Software used includes Maya, ZBrush, Substance 3D Painter, Houdini, Golaem Crowd, Guerilla Render, Nuke and DaVinci Resolve. The short film is now available online on YouTube.
