Quixel has released an update to its Bridge application for managing, importing and exporting Megascans content. Bridge 2018.5 includes new live link integrations for 3DS Max, Houdini, Toolbag and improvements to Maya and Unity. A new beta version has been released of the open source renderer aimed at animation and VFX. Version 2.0 includes several significant improvements to the core including improved subsurface scattering, NPR shaders, and new visualisation tools. The plugins see updates too with interactive rendering and AOVs in the Blender addon, volumetric rendering and denoising in the 3DS Max plugin and support for AOVs in Maya. Chaos Group has announced the release of V-Ray for Unreal, enabling users to import V-Ray scenes from 3ds Max, Maya, Rhino and SketchUp into the Unreal Editor. Vlado has uploaded a video demonstrating a nightly build of V-Ray with viewport IPR. According to Vlado "because of this feature we had to do a lot of work to get V-Ray IPR to be more responsive. There is still more to be done regarding geometry modifications, but camera/lights/materials should be quite quick". Watch it on YouTube.
