3D Studio turned 20 years old last Sunday. On Wednesday, October 31st 1990, Autodesk officially released the first version of 3D Studio, developed by the Yost Group. A sincere THANK YOU goes to Gary Yost, Tom Hudson, Jack Powell and Dan Silva, who conceived and built this quality virtual CG camera for the masses. Thanks also to all 3DS Max developers for dedicating their work and effort through the years into making 3DS Max what it is today.
It’s interesting to note how film cameras have evolved since its early years, from the early 1890s till today. This historical arc gives us an idea of what 3D software may be like in a few decades, taking into account that globalization and the Net have sped up the evolution of modern inventions considerably. The future looks bright ahead.
More information at Autodesk’s 3DS Max 20th anniversary website and our interviews with Tom Hudson, Gary Yost and José María de Espona.
