Autodesk has released Bifrost 2.7.1.0 for Maya, the latest version of its node-based tool for creating procedural models, effects, simulations, and animations. New features include
- Value Display Expressions: Display expressions can be added to any node, including editable compounds, and they now show labels for combo boxes instead of underlying values.
- Detachable Watch Points: Watchpoints can be detached from their connection wire for better data visualization.
- Sticky Notes: Formatting bar for sticky notes has been improved with a gripper and the colors have been made darker.
- UI Improvements: Better performance, interactive usability enhancements, and color inputs now use color pickers.
- Scene Info Node: Returns the location of the current file and project, useful for relative paths in USD and other applications.
- Component Tags: Component tags on Maya scene geometry are now included when you import the geometry into the graph.
- Mesh Scope Node: Visualizes data regarding points, faces, face edges, adjacency, face vertices, and more.
- Smooth Strands: They average the values of each point’s value with those of its neighbours.
- Voxel Smoothing Nodes: New parameters that are useful for smoothing a level set that has been created from points or particles.
- Volume Rendering: Faster, more accurate, and more stable viewport rendering of volumes.
- USD Improvements: Two new nodes for working with USD in the graph. Additional new nodes like filter_meshes, filter_points, get_points_structure, copy_properties, and more have been added.
- Other Changes: Numerous other changes including deterministic output of the mesh_to_volume node and correct export of velocity data when using post_refine_aero.
