San Francisco-based Caustic Graphics have announced the open beta of the SDK for their Open Ray Tracing Library (OpenRL), a framework for writing ray tracing applications that execute across all OpenCL-based GPUs (e.g., AMD, nVidia, S3) and x86 CPUs (AMD, Intel) simultaneously. The OpenRL specification will be presented as an open standard to the non-profit technology consortium, the Khronos Group.
