Clovis Gay has updated his script for creating animated duplication effects with new features for motion graphics:
- Copy N times the source object with an animated time delay
- You can now offset the transforms of these time copies
- Rotate the copies around an animatable pivot
- Use a spline to place them, slide along that spline
- Create automatically new material ID’s
- Detach all faces
- Random time offset
Watch a sample video and tutorial on Kinematiclab’s site.

Isn’t this like the Clone modifier plugin that’s free?
Clovis explained on a previous post.
“yes, all of you are right, it looks like the snapshot mixed with the ghosting, but here you have a lot more control over the time delay, and it’s not only to check out your animation, but it’s a new max object which means that you can render it or use it for modeling purpose, or some kind of motion graphics effects.
I just updated it : https://vimeo.com/101337785
So now, it’s much more Motion Graphics oriented”
There is no animation control/ offset on clone modifier but you could do some of those types of effects with it.
