Maxon has acquired Berlin-based Laubwerk GmbH. Laubwerk specializes in high-quality, parametric 3D plant models used by artists in architecture, visual effects, and motion graphics.

Laubwerk’s plant models have been a part of Maxon’s ecosystem for some time, with a selection of Redshift-ready trees and plants already available to Maxon One subscribers through the Cinema 4D Asset Browser. The ongoing Capsules project will see this integration expanded, offering artists more ready-to-use assets to streamline creative processes.

The company also owned a Cinema4D scattering tool SurfaceSpread and the plant kits had integrations with several other DCCs in addition to Cinema4D, although the press release does not hint at their fate.

For more details on this acquisition and future developments, visit Maxon’s website.

Im kinda sad about this new. Laubwerk had an open API for plugin devs. Wonder what will happen with project. Kinda thing that goes into the bin now. I was working on updating the addon for Blender.
