Mixamo announced the availability of Fuse, their 3D character creation software. With Fuse, users can browse, resize, customize and combine various body parts, textures, materials, clothing and accessories, to easily generate royalty-free 3D characters. Allegorithmic substances are used for texturing, and characters can be exported in OBJ format with diffuse, normal and specular maps, or can be downloaded autorigged from Mixamo as FBX, FBX for Unity, Collada or BVH. Fuse comes in two flavors: Fuse Basic (free) and Fuse All Access, which is packaged with 3x the amount of content. More on Mixamo.

Vizpark, developers of Max plugins Mosaic and Walls & Tiles, have released HDRI Skydomes II, their second collection of panoramic 360° images in HDR and EXR-format. The exposure images were taken with a Canon MK5 camera at 7 stops for a dynamic range of approximately 12 EVs (Exposure Values). All 10 images in the collection were manually adjusted and corrected with dust removal, alignment and chromatic aberration correction. Each HDRI skydome has several backplates of the skies taken at the same time to be used as variations for the background. (more...)
