Adobe hires Pixar veteran Guido Quaroni
Adobe has announced that Guido Quaroni will join its team as senior director of engineering on the 3D and immersive team. Prior to his new position, Quaroni was a supervising TD at Pixar where he worked on films like Monsters University and Toy Story 3. Then, from 2011, he was vice president of software R&D and oversaw the studio graphics and animation software, including the USD Open Source project and the Academy Award-winning animation software “Presto”. This hire can be seen as a further affirmation of Adobe’s commitment to 3D following their acquisitions of Substance and Medium in 2019. Read the announcement in full on Adobe’s blog.
I can see them joining forces with Unreal.
I am not so sure about that 🙂
Quixel and Substance are quite direct competitors, with Quixel Mixer currently trying to become more or less Substance Painter alternative. So while I can imagine Epic being okay with such a relationship, I doubt Adobe would ever be okay joining forces with someone who is trying to directly compete with them.
You mean with epic megagames? Unreal is just the name of their engine.
Just a regular partnership… maybe… Anything more than that? I dont think so.
