Now that 3D modeling is no longer a new art, is it time for firm professional standards to emerge from the folklore? Would enforcing professionalism in such a manner stifle creativity?
There’s an active discussion happening on the blog at TurboSquid.com that deals with topology, what constitutes “good topology,” and how it fits into the bigger issue of what makes a high-quality 3D model.
TurboSquid has been talking to some of their biggest buyers, who come from all kinds of industries, and asking them about their own standards for 3D models. As you’d expect, it varies depending on the industry. But the question also drew some consistent answers across industries, which are listed in the blog post.
The company is hoping to engage 3D modelers and buyers of 3D models in a larger discussion about professional or quality standards. Check out TurboSquid’s blog and put in your 2 cents!
