Actually, the article should read “the impact of the LOCKDOWNS on business.” The destruction of businesses and livelihoods are solely the result of political decisions by the psychopaths running our governments for a virus with a 98 percent recovery rate in which you have to get tested to even know you have it.

Well, in the the US more than 500,000 people died https://www.nytimes.com/live/2021/02/22/world/covid-19-coronavirus Doesn’t look like your “98 percent recovery” rate.

Obliviously nobody of your friends and family died, so be thankful and respectful to the ones that were not that lucky.

“No, your stats are wrong and the earth is flat”

Jokes aside, the sad part of all this craziness is that because of a bunch of egotists, individualist, ignorant people the rest has to pay for them. And what these ignorant don’t realize is exactly because they refuse to wear a simple, damn mask the economy is going bad.

Because they can’t look past their miserable yard: it would have sufficed to look for instance at Taiwan and their measure or “lack of freedom” as these lunatics call it to realize that the economy over there hasn’t stopped one single day. Life went on as always, just with extra care.

But, hey, is a free society, so people can do whatever the hell they want… or that’s what they think freedom is. No more than a child’s mentality.

And, you know, I’m fine, everyone is free to think what they believe in. As long as they would accept the consequences though: you got covid but you didn’t wear a mask? you didn’t keep the distance? Fine, now if you want to get hospitalized you pay everything out of your pocket and you’re in line after those who showed some common sense. Be at least consistent with your stupidity or else go live on a mountain.

That would be your picture in the mirror.
I use mask and they at most are a very limited device to prevent transmission. Just touch by mistake and you compromised it and that is even assuming it does not pass from many apertures between it and your face. Can you get smell trough the mask? if you can then some particles passed it…
Maybe you should go see how the virus hits many countries/geographies differently from time, how it suddenly it appears and disappears. Weather, geography, very close proximity:house, public transportation, health vulnerabilities, age are much stronger factors than masks or no masks.

Masks don’t do much for you from contracting airborne particles, this is true. But that is not why we are wearing them. They are more efficient at preventing someone who has the virus from spreading those droplets, it keeps the virus more localized around them instead of spreading to every surface and into the air for others to breath in or touch. There’s plenty of studies done on this, I suggest you read them. When masks are worn (properly and the right materials), rates drop. There’s a reason why doctors and nurses have always worn them during procedures.

If someone uses the mask but doesn’t also apply other measures such as keeping social distancing, washing their hands, and so on is a fool.
As for the smell… oh boy! what are your sources, Mickey Mouse?

Maybe you should disclose how you smell something if not from molecules that go to your nose… a smoke tobacco particle while usually bigger can be the size of a coronavirus.

The virus is carried in droplets of saliva. Those are larger than than the molecules your nose is picking up when you smell something. The virus on its own would go right through a mask easily, but the saliva droplets carrying it cannot. Masks slow the movement of saliva droplets as they exit your mouth. This decreases the distance infected droplets from you can travel and infect other people. If someone told you that you could save half the people who died in a war by wearing a funny hat for a year would you do it? …. I would, It would not even be a hard decision.

As of when i checked 525,776 of 29,255,344 is 1.8%. That be a 98.2 recovery rate.

One more thing, the (close to) 30million people are only the confirmed cases. the estimated real number might easily be double or even more. at 60million that be a 99.1 recovery rate. This accounts ONLY for people over the age of 65.
Everybody under… the working people (who hold the economy) and the children are basically only affected by the politics of this.
(and considering the NYT lied about a lot and had to retract multiple articles in the recent past you might want to consider different news sources)

Died WITH covid not died FROM covid.
And then we might even talk about how rules changed along the time.

Covid is what killed them. They had underlying conditions which made it easier for the virus to kill them. Which is the same for every virus, including influenza, the more conditions you have, the less chances you will survive an illness. 60% of Americans have an underlying condition. If they didn’t have covid, they would still be alive.

how about in a car crash?

If they died in a car crash, they didn’t die from covid, they then are listed just as having covid if shown they had it. How is this so hard to understand for some people? Same goes if they had terminal cancer, or some other disease where they knew they had days/weeks to live. I’m sure there’s a few outliers out there where it was marked as covid, but that is not the norm. Groups saying the deaths are mismarked so that the actual death count is only 6% of what is reported by the CDC are relying on some pretty crappy news sources/friends for their information, and haven’t actually read the CDC report that they are referring too.

technically i agree with you. i just don’t think it’s really helpful to anyone calling people with serious pre-conditions who died from covid covid-deaths just because covid pushed them over the edge a few weeks or month before they pushed themself over it with whatever they where doing. i was just throwing a variable into the discussion.
i would guess it’s probably much more common and the norm. but i really don’t know.
Since i never heard that 6% number i must be on the right track with what i read 🙂 it does sound a bit far fetched and probably from people who also believe in the flat earth.

Yes it is part of the norm.
You have Covid you are counted as a Covid death unless circumstances are clear you do not: like for example accidents.

And to be part of numbers that say how many people have covid wasn’t even necessary to have a positive test. Was enough to have been in contact twice distant from someone that had.

The 6% is the CDC number that said at time are the percentage of people that died with covid and had no comorbidities. So it is wrong to say that 94% had no effect from covid. But it is also wrong say that all of those with comorbidities died due to covid.

Still, the department’s Director, Dr. Ngozi Ezike used part of her time during Sunday’s health briefing to explain how the department determines if a death is related to Coronavirus.

Essentially, Dr. Ezike explained that anyone who passes away after testing positive for the virus is included in that category.

“If you were in hospice and had already been given a few weeks to live, and then you also were found to have COVID, that would be counted as a COVID death. It means technically even if you died of a clear alternate cause, but you had COVID at the same time, it’s still listed as a COVID death. So, everyone who’s listed as a COVID death doesn’t mean that that was the cause of the death, but they had COVID at the time of the death.” Dr. Ezike outlined.

You are passing around old conservative talking points by grabbing a quote from someone, Dr. Ezike, WHO DOES NOT WORK AT THE CDC. It is something she said LAST April, and is not the guidelines the CDC imposes. All the information you need as the CDC’s website, including PDFs (Guidance for Certifying Deaths Due to Corona Virus Disease 2019),explaining how and when it should be included as a cause of death; medical conditions and risk of COVID-19, excess deaths due to COVID-19 etc. Read the actual data instead of relying on whatever blog or “news” site you go to that is cherry picking and manipulating it.

A comorbidity is more than one condition or disease present in a person at one time. This includes diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, COPD, etc. Very common conditions that MANY Americans suffer from and have managed to live normal lives. But these common conditions are susceptible to COVID-19. 60% of Americans have at least one comorbidty. 40% have two. Again, with the case of all illnesses, the more comorbidities you have, the higher chance of a bad outcome. That does not mean you didn’t die from that illness, and means in almost all scenarios, you’d still be alive with the majority of comorbidities. If you are going to apply this logic to COVID-19, you would have to apply the same logic to Influenza. And you’d find there are hardly any deaths from that at all, as that usually affects older generations, that surprise, have more than one comorbidity! But that would contradict the talking point that more people die from the flu, which I’m surprised I haven’t heard from anyone here yet as it’s usually included with that 6% “factoid”.

“That does not mean you didn’t die from that illness, and means in almost all scenarios, you’d still be alive with the majority of comorbidities”
So people that are late 70-80’s years old – the majority of people that die WITH covid and at age people usually die- do not usually die from their cormobidites.
What a bizarre statement.

The lady is the director of Illinois health state department. It is also what happens in my country.

“old conservative talking points”
So you assume everyone around you is not a conservative. That is telling. You assume what you say is recognized by everyone at your values.
